7. ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

7.1 POLICY STATEMENT
7.1.1 In all our activities, working practices and business relationships, G Wilton Ltd (Decorating Services) will continuously work towards protecting, conserving and enhancing all aspects of the environment both at local and global levels.
7.1.2. In order to strive towards this commitment, we will:-
(1) Meet all the necessary regulatory requirements pertaining to our business.
(2) Keep abreast of environmental issues and in particular, those which are of
direct relevance to our business.
(3) Continue to raise the awareness of all our employees, the effect of their actions
on, and their responsibility to the environment by communication, discussion
and training.
(4) Put in place the necessary management systems to instruct, control and
monitor, in order to achieve our commitment.
(5) Ensure that all site staff and contractors in the employ of G Wilton Decorating
Services Limited are instructed not to discharge any chemicals or substances
into any service drain within the vicinity of the works.
(6) Minimise our environmental impact by the operation of suitable minimisation
and recycling schemes.
(7) Manage our building(s) and site(s) in an environmentally sensitive manner.
(8) Make use of, wherever practicable, best environmental practice when planning
and developing new and existing operations.
(9) Operate a thoughtful buying policy selecting wherever practical, materials and
services which are less damaging to the environment.
(10) Set environmental improvement targets, monitor results and review on a
regular basis.
(11) Ensure that the storage of any chemicals, being a part of any hazardous
substances register, are to be stored in a designated storage area and any such
substances to be stored on site will be registered within the Site Records.
(12) Make arrangements so that in the event of any spillage of any substance:-
(a) such spillage is minimised
(b) such spillage will be cleaned and removed before it enters into any
localised drainage system.
(c) recover as far as possible, any such spillage of material(s).
(d) any recovered spillage will be disposed of in a manner which is in
accordance with the Company Environmental Policy
(13) Where necessary, a contingency plan will be prepared on site relative to any
nominated project to ensure it is project specific and such a plan will be in
conjunction with the site rules and also the Principal Contractor’s Health and
Safety Plan.
(14) Ensure that the disposal of waste via any waste receptacle, irrespective of who
has supplied the receptacle, shall be done by using the Company controlled
waste transfer system. This shall include information showing the quantity
and type of waste and in all cases must be signed by an authorised
representative of G Wilton Ltd (Decorating Services). The document should
then be countersigned by a representative of the collection company, showing
where the waste is to be disposed of. The nominated approved waste disposal
contractors for G Wilton Ltd (Decorating Services) can be obtained from your
Line Management.
(15) If in doubt, any affected persons should seek guidance from the Company
Health and Safety Officer.
